Glimmernet Maintenance & Security
Managed security, updates, and monitoring for your Glimmernet-hosted website.
Glimmernet Maintenance & Security is installed on every WordPress site we manage. It maintains a secure, private connection between your website and our maintenance systems, so our team can keep your site healthy without needing to log in and poke around. Through this connection, our platform:
Monitors site health
We know your site is up, responsive, and behaving normally, around the clock.
Delivers managed updates
WordPress core, themes, and plugins kept current on our schedule, with testing appropriate to your plan.
Watches for security issues
Changes that could indicate a compromise are flagged to our team for review.
Keeps maintenance on schedule
Backups and routine care happen in the background, on time, every time.
Your site connects only to Glimmernet’s own management systems — never a third-party monitoring network.
02 — Why It Stays Active
Why you’ll see it in your dashboard — and why it stays on
You’ll find this component in your WordPress admin in two places: under Plugins and under Plugins → Must-Use. Both are part of your hosting service, the same way the server itself is.
Deactivating or removing it disconnects your site from managed support: monitoring stops, updates stop, and our team loses the visibility we need to protect the site. To prevent accidental interruptions, the deactivate option is disabled – and if the connection drops for any reason, our support team is alerted automatically.
If you believe it’s interfering with something on your site, don’t remove it — contact support and we’ll investigate together, usually the same day.
03 — What It Doesn’t Do
What it doesn’t do
- It does not modify your content, design, or settings outside of maintenance you’ve contracted for.
- It does not track, profile, or collect data about your site’s visitors.
- It does not add scripts, styles, or weight to your public-facing pages.
- It communicates only with Glimmernet’s management infrastructure, over authenticated, encrypted connections.

Frequently Asked Questions
It has two parts: the main agent (under Plugins) and a small companion that loads automatically (under Must-Use Plugins, a special WordPress category). They’re updated on their own schedules, so each shows its own version.
Because deactivating it disconnects your site from managed support — and in our experience, nearly every deactivation is accidental. If you have a genuine need to take it offline (for example, migrating away from Glimmernet), contact support and we’ll handle it cleanly.
No. It does nothing on your public pages and performs its work in lightweight background tasks.
