Billing & Payments (5)

Hosting is billed monthly or quarterly by default, but many clients choose annual billing to take advantage of discounted rates. We strongly encourage clients to switch to automatic payments via credit card or eCheck (ACH), and we’re currently offering a free month of hosting to anyone who sets up automatic payments. You can always find the most up-to-date information about payment options and terms on our Payments & Billing page. For billing-related questions on existing accounts, email accounting@glimmernet.com. For pre-sales or general inquiries, reach out to support@glimmernet.com.

Nope. Our hosting plans are offered on a month-to-month, quarterly, or annual basis – whatever fits your workflow best. We don’t believe in locking clients into long-term commitments. You’re free to move or adjust at any time, and we’ll support your transition if your needs change. For pre-sales contract or billing structure questions, support@glimmernet.com is the best way to reach us

We accept all major credit cards, ACH (for U.S. clients), SEPA (for EU clients), and bank transfers in USD, EUR, and GBP. We also accept payments via Zelle, Venmo, and PayPal. Need to pay in a different currency? Just let us know — we’re happy to accommodate where possible.

For all accepted payment methods and policies, our Billing & Payments page is the authoritative source. Clients with questions about existing payments can email accounting@glimmernet.com.

We’ll help you export your website and ensure you retain full control over your domain, DNS, and email routing. We don’t charge cancellation fees, and you won’t lose access to your content or services during the transition. We want long-term relationships, not lock-in. If you’re considering cancellation, just email accounting@glimmernet.com — we’ll walk you through everything.

Yes — and it’s launching soon! Our referral program will reward you with free months of hosting or design/development credits when you refer new clients. It’s a great way to reduce your costs while helping others find solid, secure hosting. We’ll announce the details in our email newsletter, so sign up to stay in the loop. In the meantime, you can send questions to support@glimmernet.com.

California State Privacy Laws (1)

Yes – if your business meets certain thresholds or serves California residents, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) may apply. These laws focus on user rights, data collection transparency, and giving individuals control over how their information is shared.

Glimmernet can help implement technical solutions that align with these requirements, including cookie consent banners, data export tools, and privacy-first forms. We also offer a Privacy Policy Generator powered by Termageddon to keep your site legally up-to-date.

Chicago (1)

Illinois is one of the most active states in proposing privacy legislation. Bills like HB3385, SB3517, SB52, and HB3041 focus on consumer data rights, opt-out mechanisms, and transparent data practices.

If your site collects information from Illinois users, it’s smart to stay ahead of these requirements. Glimmernet offers privacy compliance support and auto-updating policies powered by Termageddon.

Compliance (8)

Yes – we can help implement GDPR-compliant configurations on your WordPress site, especially for WooCommerce stores or businesses processing customer data. Our servers are located in the EU and we support technical tools for cookie consent, data access requests, and privacy policy integration. You can also use our automated Privacy Policy solution: Website Privacy Policy Service.

We offer an optional add-on that generates dynamic, state-specific privacy policies based on your operations. This tool is regularly updated to reflect current U.S. privacy laws, including California’s CCPA/CPRA, and we’ll ensure your cookie banners and opt-outs are properly configured.

Yes – we can create websites that follow WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility guidelines when requested. If your organization has accessibility requirements or legal obligations, just let us know during onboarding. We’ll incorporate accessible design and functionality from the start, or help retrofit an existing site to meet those standards.

We do not currently offer HIPAA-compliant hosting. However, we understand the requirements and can advise you on what to look for if you’re working with protected health information (PHI). We can also refer you to a trusted HIPAA-compliant partner if needed.

If you’re subject to GDPR, CCPA, or other data privacy laws, we’ll assist you with requests to delete or provide data collected through your site. This includes removing relevant records from hosting backups, logs, and any third-party services under our management.

Yes. We can configure cookie banners that comply with EU and U.S. privacy laws and ensure that non-essential scripts are only activated after proper consent is given. We’ll tailor the setup to your geographic and legal requirements.

Glimmernet operates our own optimized hosting stack across 40+ global data centers using trusted IaaS providers. While we don’t colocate or physically own the hardware, we fully manage and control every aspect of the server environment—configuration, security, and performance—ensuring nothing is left to generic shared hosting.

Importantly, neither our IaaS providers nor any third-party software vendors have access to the data stored on our servers. Only Glimmernet and you – the client – can view or interact with your content and customer data.

If your business has data residency or compliance requirements, we’ll recommend the best region to meet your needs. You can explore our Worldwide Hosting Locations page, or contact us at support@glimmernet.com and we’ll guide you to the ideal setup.

If a data breach ever occurs, we’ll work quickly to identify the scope, isolate the incident, and restore service. If disclosure is legally required under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, we’ll help you prepare appropriate notifications and assist with the technical response.

Domain & DNS Management (10)

We believe you should always hold the keys to your digital castle – and your domain name is one of the most important digital assets you own. That’s why we encourage clients to register their own domains, ensuring full control from day one.

Once the domain is registered, we’ll request delegate access from your registrar. This allows us to have technical access to manage DNS settings, renewals, and monitoring – all without needing your password or taking over the account. If you prefer a fully managed experience, you can also grant us access to products and billing, and we’ll take care of everything for you.

Either way, you retain full ownership of the domain at all times.

If your domain expires, your website and email can go offline immediately – and worse, someone else could buy the domain and impersonate your brand. Recovery can be costly, time-consuming, or even impossible if it’s re-registered by a scammer.

That’s why we treat domain renewal as a top priority. Every domain we manage is monitored through UptimeVision, our 24/7 monitoring system. We track expiration dates, renew eligible domains automatically when billing is current, and send proactive renewal reminders. This includes domains hosted elsewhere, as long as we’ve been given delegate access.

If you prefer to manage your own domain, we’ll still advise you on best practices: enable auto-renew, keep contact and payment info updated, and watch out for phishing emails pretending to be renewal notices.

Letting a domain lapse can lead to serious consequences. We’re here to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Sometimes—but timing is critical. If a domain has recently expired, there may be a short grace period where it can still be renewed by the original owner. Once it enters the redemption or auction phase, recovery becomes more difficult, expensive, or even impossible.

If your domain is lost or has been purchased by someone else, we can investigate recovery options, attempt to negotiate its return, or help you transition to a new domain while minimizing the impact. Prevention is always best, which is why we recommend UptimeVision monitoring and domain-level alerts.

Domain privacy protection hides your personal or business contact details—like name, email, phone number, and address—from the public WHOIS database. Without it, that information is easily scraped and used by spammers, scammers, and third-party marketers.

If you skip privacy protection, you’re almost guaranteed to receive spam—both in your inbox and your physical mailbox. These often include phishing emails, fake renewal notices, and other scam solicitations. We’ve written about these threats in detail in our article on domain expiration scams and our warning about fake SSL validation emails.

Privacy protection is especially critical for home-based businesses or small teams that don’t want to publicly list a home address or personal contact information. If we’re assisting with domain setup or management, we’ll make sure privacy is turned on wherever possible.

In most cases, no. These add-ons are often overpriced and unnecessary—especially if you’re hosting with us. Tools like malware scanning, uptime checks, and performance monitoring are already included or handled more effectively through our infrastructure.

We use enterprise-grade firewalls, malware detection, and our own UptimeVision platform to protect and monitor your site. If you’re being pushed to buy extras during domain registration, skip them—you can always add them later if needed. There’s no benefit to rushing into overpriced bundles under pressure.

Not sure? Just ask—we’ll give you an honest, jargon-free recommendation based on your setup.

We believe you should always hold the keys to your digital castle – and your domain name is one of the most important digital assets you own. That’s why we encourage clients to retain full control by keeping domains registered in their own accounts whenever possible.

If managing the domain feels like a burden, we’re happy to help. You can grant us delegate access so we can manage DNS, monitor expiration, and handle technical updates—without giving up ownership or account access.

In special cases, we can accept a domain transfer if you prefer a fully-managed experience. But our priority is always making sure you stay in control of your brand’s most valuable asset.

Any host that demands domain ownership is out of line. There’s no technical reason for it—and it’s a red flag. You should never have to give up ownership just to receive competent hosting or support.

We work with all major domain registrars and DNS providers, including GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains (now Squarespace Domains), Cloudflare, AWS Route 53, and more. Our systems are platform-agnostic – so wherever your domain lives, we can help configure it for optimal performance, email deliverability, and uptime.

That said, some providers are easier to work with than others. If you haven’t chosen a registrar yet, we’re happy to recommend one based on your needs and budget, just drop us a line.

If we have delegate access to your registrar or DNS provider We’ll handle all the necessary DNS configuration to route your domain to our servers properly and securely.

If your IT team prefers to keep full control, we’ll provide the exact DNS records you need and offer guidance to ensure the setup is correct. Either way, we verify everything and monitor DNS changes continuously through UptimeVision to catch issues before they affect your site or transactional email.

Yes – if you’re switching from a registrar with poor support, limited DNS features, or aggressive upsells, we can help you move your DNS to a better-managed provider. We’ll review your current DNS records, create a migration plan, and make sure there’s no downtime during the switch.

We’ll also handle the new configuration, apply performance and security best practices, and set up UptimeVision monitoring once the move is complete. You’ll end up with a faster, more reliable DNS setup—and peace of mind knowing it’s done right.

Yes – if you’re moving your domain to a new registrar, we can guide you through the process or handle it for you if you provide temporary access. We’ll verify the domain is unlocked, retrieve the necessary authorization code, and help ensure DNS settings are preserved to avoid downtime during the move.

We’ll also coordinate timing so there’s no disruption to your website or email, and we’ll confirm everything is working correctly once the transfer is complete.

Email & Deliverability (9)

No – we don’t provide traditional inbox hosting as part of our managed WordPress plans. For professional email, we recommend services like Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. We’ll manage the DNS setup and support the integration, but the licensing stays with you. If you choose Microsoft 365, optional mailbox management is available as an add-on.

Regardless of which provider you use, we monitor your MX records and related DNS entries through UptimeVision to help ensure email services remain stable and reliable.

For transactional emails (like password resets, form notifications, and order confirmations), we include high-deliverability email delivery via Postmark as part of your hosting plan.

We also wrote a blog post about why we no longer host email – and why that’s actually better for your business.

Transactional email refers to messages automatically sent by your website – like password resets, contact form confirmations, order receipts, and user notifications. These are essential for keeping your site functional and responsive.

We include high-reliability transactional email delivery (via Postmark or an equivalent provider) with every hosting plan to ensure these messages reach inboxes quickly and consistently – without getting caught in spam filters. There’s nothing for you to configure – we handle the setup and monitoring as part of our managed service.

Yes – and we often recommend them. These platforms offer excellent reliability, security, and familiar tools for professional email. We’ll handle all the DNS configuration to make sure your domain works seamlessly with either service, including SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records.

You’ll manage the actual accounts and licensing through Microsoft or Google, but we’ll support the technical setup. For Microsoft 365, optional mailbox management is available as an add-on if you prefer to offload day-to-day email administration.

We also monitor your MX records and related DNS entries through UptimeVision to help ensure uninterrupted email service and early detection of any changes or issues.

Yes – we’ll handle the setup and configuration of SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records to align with your chosen email provider. These records are critical for email deliverability and help protect your domain from spoofing and phishing attempts.

Whether you’re using Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or another provider, we’ll ensure your DNS is properly configured and validated. We also monitor these records through UptimeVision to detect unauthorized changes or issues before they become problems.

If your email goes down due to a DNS misconfiguration, expired records, or provider issues, we’ll help you troubleshoot and resolve it. Since we monitor your MX and DNS records through UptimeVision, we’re often alerted to potential problems before you even notice them.

While we don’t host inboxes ourselves, we fully support the email infrastructure that surrounds your domain – and we’re here to assist when things go wrong.

Absolutely. If you decide to move from one provider (like Google Workspace) to another (such as Microsoft 365), we’ll assist with the DNS updates and ensure a smooth transition on the technical side. We’ll also help verify SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records with the new provider to maintain deliverability.

Email migrations between inbox services typically involve transferring messages, contacts, and calendars – which we don’t handle directly – but we’re happy to coordinate with your IT team or refer you to a trusted migration vendor we recommend.

We strongly recommend letting us manage your DNS. It directly impacts site uptime, performance, email deliverability, and overall security. Even a small misstep can cause major disruptions. However, if your organization prefers to keep DNS in-house, we’ll work with your IT team to ensure everything is configured correctly.

In either case, we’ll request delegate access to your DNS provider. This gives us technical access to make necessary changes, but does not grant us control over billing or account ownership. Plus, we don’t need to know your password and we can secure our own login with 2FA. It’s the safest and fastest way to keep your systems running smoothly without giving up administrative control.

Yes. If your domain is already registered, we can manage it on your behalf by requesting delegate access through your current registrar. This gives us the technical ability to handle DNS updates, renewals, and monitoring – without requiring your login credentials or transferring ownership.

You’ll continue to own the domain and retain full control. Our goal is to keep everything running smoothly behind the scenes while ensuring you stay in the driver’s seat.

If your domain is under our monitoring via UptimeVision, we’ll alert you well before it expires and help you renew it on time. If we manage your domain directly or have delegate access, we can often take care of the renewal for you.

If your domain lapses, it may go through a short grace period where it can still be recovered –  however this varies by registrar. After that, it may be auctioned off, picked up by a squatter, or used for malicious impersonation. Recovering it can be expensive or impossible.

To avoid this risk, we recommend enabling auto-renewal, storing up-to-date payment info with your registrar, and allowing us to monitor expiration dates on your behalf.

Frankfurt (5)

Yes – we can help implement GDPR-compliant configurations on your WordPress site, especially for WooCommerce stores or businesses processing customer data. Our servers are located in the EU and we support technical tools for cookie consent, data access requests, and privacy policy integration. You can also use our automated Privacy Policy solution: Website Privacy Policy Service.

Yes – our Frankfurt WordPress hosting is powered by servers physically located in Frankfurt, hosted on enterprise-grade infrastructure. That means low-latency performance for your site visitors in Germany and surrounding countries, with full data residency compliance under EU and German privacy laws.

Absolutely. We host WooCommerce stores across Germany and Europe. Our managed stack is optimized for eCommerce, including object caching, database tuning, and image optimization – plus integration support for payment gateways and privacy tools. We also monitor uptime and performance 24/7 via our UptimeVision system.

All hosting plans include our UptimeVision service which monitors uptime, SSL status, and domain expiration.  We also have a robust web application firewall (WAF), login security, and vulnerability alerts. We host all WordPress sites in secure German data centers with firewall controls, and zero access to your data by third parties or IaaS providers.

Compliance depends on how your website collects and handles user data. Germany enforces strict privacy regulations under the GDPR, including requirements for cookie consent, data access requests, and transparent privacy policies.

We can help ensure your WordPress site is aligned with these standards—especially if you’re using tools like Usercentrics, a consent management platform based in Germany. In fact, our recommended privacy partner, Termageddon, uses Usercentrics technology to power its cookie consent banners and ensure GDPR compliance for EU-based visitors.

If you already use another consent solution, that’s perfectly fine—we’ll help integrate and configure it. And if you need a recommendation or want us to review your current setup, just contact our team.

General Hosting (29)

Managed WordPress hosting gives you a hands-off experience as we take care of everything behind the scenes. From performance optimization and backups to security monitoring and updates, our team handles the technical details proactively. You don’t have to lift a finger, but we’re very hands-on to ensure your site stays fast, secure, and reliable.

With regular hosting, you’re responsible for everything—installing WordPress, managing updates, securing your site, and troubleshooting performance issues. Managed hosting, on the other hand, offloads all of that to us. We proactively maintain your site’s health and security, optimize performance, and provide 24/7 monitoring through our UptimeVision system. If something goes wrong, we’re alerted instantly and take action—often before you even notice.

Glimmernet combines enterprise-grade infrastructure with personalized, human support. We don’t just host your site – we actively manage it for speed, security, and reliability. Our platform is optimized for WordPress, and our team has deep experience working with nonprofits, agencies, and businesses that can’t afford downtime or delays. With Glimmernet, you get more than hosting – you get a technology partner.

Yes. We provide full migration support for most WordPress websites, including content, files, databases, and even DNS changes if needed. Our team will coordinate the transition to minimize disruption and ensure everything is transferred securely and correctly. Most sites can be moved with little to no downtime.

Most standard WordPress site migrations are complimentary, and we’ll review your site with you in advance to confirm what’s needed so there are no surprises.

If your migration is more complex, we’ll provide a clear plan and upfront pricing before we begin.

For all migrations, there’s no guesswork, no scripts to run, and no technical hurdles. Just let us know where your site is currently hosted, and our team will take care of the entire process—securely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption.

Most WordPress site migrations are completed within 24 to 48 hours, depending on the size and complexity of the site. We’ll coordinate the timing with you to avoid disruptions and can schedule the migration during low-traffic hours or over the weekend if needed. For more complex setups, we’ll provide a clear timeline in advance so you know exactly what to expect.

Yes. You’ll have full administrative access to your WordPress dashboard, plugins, themes, and content. Our role is to support and manage the hosting environment—not to restrict what you can do with your site. You remain in control at all times, with our team available to assist when needed.

Yes, every Glimmernet hosting plan includes a staging environment. This allows you to test updates, design changes, or new features without affecting your live site. When you’re ready, we can push those changes live with confidence, knowing they’ve already been tested.

No. Glimmernet handles all WordPress core updates, plugin and theme updates, and regular site backups for you. You don’t need to worry about remembering to update or download anything as we take care of it behind the scenes so your site stays current and protected.

Backup schedules are tailored to your website’s needs. For static or rarely updated sites, we may run backups weekly. For most standard business sites, backups are performed daily. For e-commerce sites or sites with frequent updates, we often back up hourly or even more frequently. That way, if anything ever goes wrong, we can roll back to a useful restore point. We’ll work with your team to determine the best schedule based on your site’s content and traffic patterns.

Yes – all Glimmernet hosting plans include 24/7 uptime monitoring through our internal system, UptimeVision. We monitor your site continuously and receive instant alerts if it goes offline, so we can act quickly to resolve the issue—often before you’re even aware there’s a problem.

If your site experiences unexpected downtime, our monitoring system (UptimeVision) alerts us immediately. Our team investigates the cause and works to restore service as quickly as possible. We’re proactive in our response and always prioritize uptime and availability.

We offer hosting in over 40 data center locations around the world. This includes North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, South America, and Africa. You can view the full list on our Worldwide Hosting Locations page. We’ll help you choose the best location based on your audience and performance needs.

No problem – your site will still load quickly no matter where your audience is located. Our infrastructure is optimized for global reach, with smart routing and edge caching that deliver strong performance even outside our listed data center cities. Whether your users are in rural areas, smaller markets, or overseas, we’ll help ensure they get a fast, reliable experience.

Yes – if a Content Delivery Network (CDN) is a good fit for your site, we’ll configure it for you. That said, CDNs aren’t always the performance boost they’re made out to be. In some cases, they can cause more harm than good by introducing delays or caching problems. We’ll assess your traffic, audience geography, and content needs to decide if a CDN will help—and only use one if it truly improves speed and reliability.

Yes – we support WordPress Multisite and can configure your hosting environment accordingly. That said, we’ll need to review your multisite installation before proceeding. Multisite can still be useful in certain cases, but it’s not always the most practical solution today. We’ll help you assess whether it’s the right approach or if separate installations would better serve your needs.

Yes – we send a weekly hosting report that includes uptime stats, security insights (like blocked threats), plugin updates, and performance data. It’s designed to keep you informed without requiring technical knowledge. If anything needs your attention, we’ll highlight it and follow up via our support system.

We also offer separate, detailed reports for our digital marketing clients covering SEO performance, PPC results, and more. And for broader updates and insights, you’ll receive our monthly client newsletter.

You can opt out of any or all of these reports at any time — just let us know.

DNS (Domain Name System) is what connects your domain name (like example.com) to the actual server where your website lives. It’s how visitors, email services, and search engines find your site and related services online.

A misconfigured DNS can lead to downtime, broken emails, slow performance, or even security vulnerabilities. When we have delegate access, we can monitor and support your DNS configuration to ensure it is optimized for speed, reliability, and security.

We also track DNS health and expiration timelines using UptimeVision, our 24/7 monitoring solution, so we can catch issues early and help you avoid unexpected disruptions.

Note: DNS stands for Domain Name System and should not be confused with “Domain Name Service” – a misleading term often used by scammy upsell providers.

Each website – whether it’s a separate domain, subdomain, or microsite – requires its own isolated hosting environment for maximum security, performance, and maintainability. We don’t bundle multiple sites into a single WordPress install or account, because that creates unnecessary risk and complexity.

That said, we’re happy to consolidate billing and manage all of your sites under one unified support relationship. You’ll still get centralized oversight, just without compromising stability or security.

Our platform is optimized specifically for WordPress, but we can support static HTML sites in certain cases – especially if they’re part of a phased migration or hybrid setup. That said, we don’t provide general-purpose web hosting for non-WordPress sites.

If you have a static site now and plan to switch to WordPress later, we’ll work with you on a custom transition plan.

No – our infrastructure is purpose-built and fine-tuned exclusively for WordPress. Supporting multiple platforms adds complexity, increases risk, and dilutes the performance and security advantages we deliver. By focusing solely on WordPress, we provide a faster, more stable, and more secure hosting experience.

If you’re migrating from another CMS, we can help plan the transition to WordPress and ensure it aligns with your business goals.

Yes – while we’d love to keep you as a client, we believe in full transparency and portability. Your WordPress site is your property, and we don’t use any proprietary locking mechanisms that would prevent you from migrating elsewhere.

We’ll provide everything you need for a clean transition if you ever decide to move — and we’ll never make you jump through hoops. We can even coordinate with your new provider if needed to ensure a smooth handoff.

Please note: Some premium plugins and services we include (at no cost to you) are licensed through our developer accounts. These licenses will not transfer with your site. You’ll still keep all your content and configurations, but the new host will need to provide their own license or you can purchase one directly.

Our managed WordPress hosting includes access to a curated set of premium plugins and integrations, saving you hundreds per year in licensing costs. These tools are selected to enhance the security, speed, and functionality of your site.

Licenses commonly included:

  • Gravity Forms Elite – Powerful and flexible form builder and more
  • Wordfence Premium – Industry-leading security and firewall protection
  • Smash Balloon – Optimized social media feeds
  • Divi Builder & Bloom – Visual design and email opt-in tools from Elegant Themes

Please note:

  • Termageddon privacy policy generation is available as a separate, billable add-on.
  • This list is not comprehensive. Each hosting environment is customized based on your site’s needs, and we may include or exclude specific tools accordingly.
  • If you have specific plugin or license requirements, or want to know what’s active on your site, just reach out to support@glimmernet.com or visit https://support.glimmernet.com.

We’re happy to provide a breakdown and help you get the most from your included licenses.

Yes – if you already have premium plugin licenses tied to your business or developer account, we’re happy to work with them. Some plugins (like Gravity Forms or WPML) allow site-specific keys, and others may be tied to your account entirely.

Just let us know which licenses you want to use and we’ll make sure everything is installed and configured correctly. We’ll also notify you if your license expires, becomes invalid, or causes issues with your site.

If you’re unsure whether to use your own license or ours, we’re happy to help evaluate the best option based on your site’s needs and future plans.

If a plugin or theme you’re using is abandoned or no longer maintained, we’ll evaluate the risk and recommend a safe path forward. Unmaintained code can introduce security vulnerabilities, break site functionality, or create compatibility issues with newer versions of WordPress, PHP, or other plugins.

In most cases, we’ll suggest alternatives that are actively supported and have a strong development community. If the affected code is essential to your site, we may be able to patch it temporarily or rebuild the functionality using modern tools.

Our goal is to ensure long-term security, stability, and maintainability—without surprises. We’ll always discuss your options before making any changes.

We make redesigns easy. If you’re ready for a new look or updated functionality, we offer professional design and development services in-house. Since we’re already familiar with your setup, we’re in the best position to deliver a smooth, efficient transformation without risking your existing performance, search engine ranking, or security.

Prefer to bring in your own designer? No problem. We’ll coordinate staging, deployment, and technical support to ensure a seamless rollout.

Whether it’s a full overhaul or just a refresh, we’ll guide the process so your site stays fast, secure, and user-friendly.

Absolutely. We host a wide range of WooCommerce-powered stores, from small boutiques to complex eCommerce platforms.

Because WooCommerce sites typically have higher traffic, dynamic content, and real-time transactions, we optimize hosting specifically for performance, security, and uptime.

That includes advanced object caching, database tuning, optional use of Relay, and compatibility with payment gateways, inventory tools, and third-party services.

We also monitor these sites more frequently via UptimeVision and run tailored backups so we can roll back quickly if needed.

If you’re launching a new store or migrating an existing one, our team can help you plan everything from DNS to plugin compatibility to CDN strategy. We can also work with you on a complete digital marketing strategy to grow traffic, improve conversions, and build long-term success.

Yes – we manage and optimize WordPress sites with membership functionality, including gated content, user logins, recurring billing, and role-based access control. Whether you’re using MemberPress, Paid Memberships Pro, WooCommerce Memberships, or another plugin, we’ll help ensure your infrastructure is secure, scalable, and compatible with your goals.

We’ll also optimize for caching, performance, and transactional email delivery to make sure your members enjoy a seamless experience. UptimeVision provides 24/7 monitoring and alerting, so we catch issues before they affect your users.

Absolutely – we host and support a range of LMS platforms built on WordPress, including LearnDash, LifterLMS, TutorLMS, and full BuddyBoss-based learning communities. These sites require thoughtful resource planning, secure user access, and integrations with video hosting and payment gateways.

We tailor performance settings, monitor uptime and traffic through UptimeVision, and help with caching, course protection, and scale-up strategies as your learner base grows.

For more, see our self-hosted LMS solutions or check out our blog post on why self-hosting your LMS is the smartest move in 2025.

Georgia State Privacy Laws (1)

What is Georgia SB111 and does it affect my website?

Georgia SB111 is a proposed privacy bill that would require businesses to disclose what personal data is collected and allow consumers to opt out of data sales. Like other state-level efforts, it signals a shift toward greater user control.

Whether you operate in Georgia or not, your site may attract Georgia users. Glimmernet helps configure the right disclosures, consent tools, and privacy policies. Visit our Privacy Policy page to see how we can help.

Illinois State Privacy Laws (1)

Illinois is one of the most active states in proposing privacy legislation. Bills like HB3385, SB3517, SB52, and HB3041 focus on consumer data rights, opt-out mechanisms, and transparent data practices.

If your site collects information from Illinois users, it’s smart to stay ahead of these requirements. Glimmernet offers privacy compliance support and auto-updating policies powered by Termageddon.

Absolutely. While we recommend Termageddon for automated privacy policies and cookie consent (powered by Germany-based Usercentrics), you’re welcome to use any compliant tool of your choice that meets your legal and business requirements.

We’ll help ensure your preferred privacy or cookie solution is properly integrated with your WordPress site – whether you’re targeting users in Germany, the EU, or globally. If you’re unsure whether your setup meets legal requirements, our team can provide technical guidance or connect you with trusted legal partners.

New York State Privacy Laws (4)

The Digital Fairness Act (S2277) is a proposed law focused on algorithmic accountability and data profiling, especially around automated decision-making. While it is not yet enacted, it reflects a growing expectation that organizations be transparent about how personal data is used.

If your organization is preparing for potential compliance or simply wants to stay ahead of evolving privacy standards, we can help implement technical controls—such as data transparency notices, opt-out tools, and usage logs. We’ll coordinate with your legal team as needed to align your WordPress site with the Act’s intent.

We also offer automated privacy policy solutions through our Termageddon partnership, making it easier to stay current as laws evolve.

The New York Privacy Act (SB365) proposes sweeping consumer rights over personal data, including the ability to access, correct, delete, and restrict the sale of that information. While still under review, it shares similarities with laws like the GDPR and CCPA.

Glimmernet can implement privacy tools such as consent banners, data request workflows, and backend processes for securely handling and logging those requests. We’ll tailor the solution to your specific site and ensure it fits your operational model—without compromising user experience.

For automated compliance coverage, we also offer privacy policy management tools powered by Termageddon.

SB3162 would require businesses to disclose what categories of personal information they collect and how that data is used, shared, or sold. This transparency must be provided upon user request.

Glimmernet can help you build secure forms, audit trails, and data access features that support compliance with this type of legislation. Whether your site is a storefront, lead-gen funnel, or member platform, we’ll work with you to make sure users can request and receive their data appropriately.

Glimmernet also provides policy automation options to keep your compliance language up to date across your website.

New York’s Personal Information Collection law (tAB4374) emphasizes clear disclosures and consumer awareness when collecting personal data, particularly in online forms and tracking tools.

Glimmernet can integrate cookie consent banners, inline disclosures, and policy notifications that reflect your actual data practices. For organizations that need to comply, we’ll ensure the technical implementation aligns with legal expectations – without relying on generic templates that miss the mark.

We also offer privacy policy automation to help clients address legal requirements like this quickly and reliably.

Performance (8)

Yes – Glimmernet hosting is built for speed at every layer: server performance, caching, PHP configuration, and database tuning. We’ll review your setup and offer recommendations to help your site perform at its best. Light tuning is included, but deeper performance work or redesigns may require a scoped engagement based on your site’s complexity.

We can help you figure out why.

Site slowness can stem from many sources beyond just bloated plugins or outdated themes. Poorly coded page builders, excessive third-party scripts, unoptimized database queries, oversized media files, inefficient page layouts, or unnecessary tracking pixels can all drag down performance. We’ll start by running diagnostics to pinpoint the bottlenecks and give you a clear picture of what’s slowing things down. From there, we’ll work with you to prioritize improvements. Some fixes may be simple, while others might require more time and a separate optimization engagement depending on the scope and severity.

Yes – our platform includes multiple layers of caching, including object caching (powered by Object Cache Pro), full-page caching, and static asset delivery. These layers work together to speed up database queries and reduce page load times. For high-demand sites, we also offer Relay as a premium add-on, delivering even faster object cache performance under load. We’ll tailor your caching strategy based on your site’s architecture, traffic, and performance goals. In some cases, we may also recommend and configure a CDN if it provides real value.

Yes – we’ll review your media setup and make recommendations to improve performance. This may include suggestions for image compression, lazy loading, or using modern formats like WebP. We’re happy to point you in the right direction based on your site’s needs.

Our infrastructure can scale to handle traffic surges, but optimal performance during a spike depends on having the right configuration in place ahead of time. That’s why we discuss your traffic patterns and potential flash events during onboarding. For sites expecting high demand, we can preconfigure autoscaling, load balancing, failover options, and caching strategies to ensure stability when traffic ramps up quickly.

Relay is a high-performance drop-in replacement for Redis, developed by the creators of Object Cache Pro. It dramatically improves object cache performance, especially under heavy traffic. While Relay isn’t necessary for all sites, it’s an excellent option for high-demand or data-intensive sites. It’s available as a premium add-on, and we’ll let you know if your site would benefit from it.

Yes – we can review your site’s performance and help address the factors that impact metrics like Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), First Input Delay (FID), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). We’ll identify the most impactful areas for improvement and provide clear guidance. While perfect scores may look nice, chasing 100% isn’t always the most practical or beneficial goal so we’ll help you focus on the changes that deliver real-world performance gains and align with your site’s objectives.

Nope!  Our managed WordPress hosting platform already handles the kinds of optimizations those plugins promise, including advanced caching, image handling, and performance tuning. In many cases, adding these plugins can actually cause conflicts or undo the server-level work we’ve already put in place. For example, they might override critical caching rules, duplicate compression settings, or inject scripts that conflict with our CDN or security layers. We strongly recommend relying on our built-in tools and expertise instead of layering on third-party solutions that can do more harm than good.

If you’re considering any plugin with security or performance implications, reach out to support@glimmernet.com or visit https://support.glimmernet.com. Whether you’re an existing client or just exploring your options, we’re happy to advise.

Security & Privacy (12)

Security is built into every layer of our platform. We use system-level firewalls, web application firewalls (WAF), malware scanning, and active threat monitoring to keep your site protected around the clock. Our UptimeVision platform monitors for issues like downtime, expired SSLs, and signs of compromise. We also apply security best practices behind the scenes: disabling unnecessary services, limiting access, enforcing strong authentication, and regularly patching software. You don’t need to configure anything — we handle all the critical protection so your site stays secure without you lifting a finger.

Yes – every site we host includes a free SSL certificate issued by Let’s Encrypt. We handle the entire process for you: issuing, installing, and renewing the certificate automatically. All SSL certificates are monitored through our UptimeVision system, so you’ll never be caught off guard by an expired certificate. If you prefer a custom or extended validation (EV) certificate, we can support that too – just let us know your requirements and we’ll take care of the setup.

Yes – we use multiple, overlapping systems to keep your site safe. Our UptimeVision platform monitors for uptime, SSL expirations, and domain-related issues.

Separately, our web application firewall (WAF) and server-level tools proactively block millions of attacks each month, filtering out threats before they ever reach your site.

We also use a management plugin that tracks plugin and theme vulnerabilities in real time, alerting us if something in your stack becomes unsafe. These alerts are a second line of defense in a system designed to stop problems before they start.

Please check with us first. Most third-party security plugins conflict with our server-level protections and can introduce performance issues or instability. In many cases, they’re unnecessary. We include a premium Wordfence license with your hosting when appropriate, and we’ll handle the installation, setup, and monitoring for you. Wordfence activity is also summarized in your weekly hosting report, so you can stay informed without managing it yourself.

If you’re considering any plugin with security or performance implications, reach out to support@glimmernet.com or visit https://support.glimmernet.com. Whether you’re an existing client or just exploring your options, we’re happy to advise.

Yes – our UptimeVision platform continuously monitors your site at both the site and server levels. It checks your site’s uptime from multiple geographic locations around the world, using different ISPs and IaaS providers. That way, even if a regional network or provider has an issue, we’ll know.

UptimeVision also monitors server-level resources to detect issues like overloads or bottlenecks that could impact performance.

In most cases, we’ll begin investigating before you even know there’s a problem.

UptimeVision also tracks domain expirations and SSL certificate expirations to help prevent avoidable outages and can be configured to send alerts directly to you, if desired.

Yes – all SSL certificates on our platform are actively monitored by UptimeVision. If a certificate is approaching expiration or fails to renew properly, we’re alerted immediately and will take action to resolve the issue. This applies whether your site uses our auto-renewing certificates or a custom certificate you’ve provided. Our goal is to ensure your visitors never see browser warnings or security errors due to expired SSL certificates.

While no hosting environment can guarantee absolute immunity, our current platform has maintained a spotless track record. Built with multiple layers of proactive security — including WAFs, server hardening, active monitoring, and premium tools — it is designed to prevent breaches before they happen. In the unlikely event that an issue arises, we respond immediately: isolating the threat, restoring a clean version of your site, and working with you to address the root cause.

Yes – if you’re migrating to us with an already compromised site, we can help. Our team has deep experience in cleaning up malware, removing backdoors, and securing WordPress installations. We’ll assess the extent of the damage, restore clean backups if available, and harden the environment to prevent reinfection. Cleanup services are billed separately, and we’ll provide an estimate upfront so there are no surprises.

We use multiple layers of protection to defend against brute force attacks. Login attempts are rate-limited, monitored in real-time, and analyzed for suspicious behavior. We also deploy application firewalls and premium tools like Wordfence to block repeated failures and known malicious IPs.

Most attacks are blocked automatically without requiring any action from you.

Yes – we can configure country-level or IP-based restrictions using our firewall and CDN tools. This is useful for reducing spam, deterring known bad actors, or complying with regional policies. If this is something you’re concerned about, we’ll work with you to implement tailored rules based on your needs.

Yes – we enforce lockouts after a series of failed login attempts and/or password resets to protect your account. These policies help prevent brute force attacks and unauthorized access. If you’re ever locked out by mistake, just contact support@glimmernet.com or visit https://support.glimmernet.com and we’ll assist promptly.

Yes – we encourage the use of 2FA for WordPress logins and other admin-level access. We’ll help you configure it using trusted tools that integrate securely with your site. Two-factor authentication greatly reduces the risk of unauthorized access when paired with our other security layers.
