A website rarely breaks all at once

It’s easy to assume a site is healthy because it loads when you check it. But most of what keeps a website fast, secure, and online lives below the surface, where you’d never think to look: a plugin that quietly went out of date, an SSL certificate inching toward expiry, a backup that’s been running for months and has never once been tested against a real restore.

None of that announces itself. It just sits there until the day it matters, which is usually the worst possible day. A health check is simply a structured way to find those things while they’re still easy to fix, instead of after they’ve become a problem.

02 — What We Check

The 24 points

The check is the same whether you’re a client or not. We work through twenty-four specific things across six areas, and we don’t pull punches — if something’s fine, we’ll tell you it’s fine, and if something needs attention, you’ll know exactly what and why.

Performance & speed

Real-world load time, image sizing and optimization, caching configuration, database bloat and overhead, and render-blocking resources that slow the first paint.

Security

SSL certificate validity and setup, plugins or themes with known vulnerabilities, brute-force and login protection, file and user-permission hygiene, and a scan for malware or suspicious code.

Backups & reliability

Whether backups exist and how often they run, whether they’d actually restore if you needed them, server uptime and response, and a look through the error logs for anything recurring.

Platform & maintenance

Your PHP version and whether it’s still supported, WordPress core version, the update status of plugins and themes, and any abandoned or unused plugins still sitting in the install.

Whether search engines can actually index you, the state of your titles and meta descriptions, broken internal and external links, and how the site behaves on a phone.

Your domain and DNS configuration, and whether your analytics are actually recording the traffic you think they are so that you can make informed business decisions

A report you can actually read

You’ll get a written summary in plain English – no dashboards to decipher, no jargon wall, no score out of a hundred that means nothing. Just a clear list of what we found, ordered by what matters most. Each item comes with a short note on why it matters and what fixing it would involve.

If everything’s in good shape, that’s exactly what the report will say.

Plenty of people request a check just to confirm their current setup is doing its job – and that’s a perfectly good reason to want one. There’s no obligation attached, and no one will chase you afterward – if you want to talk about fixing something, you know where we are.
